Reiki is a traditional Japanese energy manipulation practice for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. Reiki has been practiced for generations, based upon the identification and manipulation of the life force energy that flows through all of us to help us to ease and release us from pain and to holistically approach ailments while at the same time providing a meditative practice focusing on universal unity and belonging.
When a person’s Ki is strong and the flow is balanced, they feel strong, confident, and healthy. When it is low or unbalanced, the person will feel weak and is more likely to be susceptible to illness and infection or malaise.
In modern Western traditions, this energy is typically called Spirit. In the Japanese traditions, it is Ki. In China it is Chi, and in India it is Prana … Regardless of your tradition, this universal life force is fundamental to health and wellbeing.
A friend introduced me to Reiki when I was in my late thirties when I was going through a hard divorce (what divorce isn’t hard). A lot of people believe that “spirit healing” like Reiki or yoga or Prana-Bindu, is all a bunch of gibberish, but it helped me.
